All My Love, Detrick Summary

“All My Love, Detrick” is a book about Historical Jewish Fiction during World War II. I rarely read any fiction books, this actually is my first fiction book I read on a WWII story, and I absolutely enjoyed it.
The Story Overview
This book is starting from a German “aryan” man, blond blue eyed Detrick who is popular in School but has grown up from an extremely poor family, because his father is a drunk mean man who came back from WWI with no interest to support the family. His mother loves him and his sister, and works from day and night trying to make ends meet.
Jacob Abdenstern helps out the young Detrick when his bicycle is damaged in an accident. This was the the beginning of a friendship that would last a lifetime. Years later he meets and falls in love with Jacob’s daughter Leah.
As Hitler comes to power, the laws change to not allow Jews to do anything, Detrick sees how wrong Hitler is and his friends who joined the “party”. He works hard to keep Jacob and his daughter Leah alive and safe. Detrick finds himself in a very difficult and dangerous situation.
What I think about this book
I read some of the reviews, people criticize the book because they think the author didn’t do enough research to follow the accurate timeline and historical facts. Well, this is my first WWII novel, and we all know it’s not based on a true story. In my opinion, I don’t think we should be that critical, and we don’t need to dig into all the facts as long as you enjoy reading the book. That’s the most important.
