Easy Recipe with a Touch of Preparation

Making black sesame puree is a breeze, with one minor exception: washing the sesame seeds. This step can be a bit tedious, so I recommend washing a few packs at once, roasting them, and storing them in a large container. This way, whenever you crave black sesame puree, you can simply grab the pre-washed and roasted seeds—easy peasy!

Wash and Roast

Thoroughly wash the black sesame seeds. Roast them on low heat until fragrant. Store them in an airtight container.

Prepare Dates

Pit and chop the sweet dates. If you don't have Medjool dates , you can find them at Costco or order from Amazon.

Blend

In a soy milk maker (I use the Joyoung brand, which I've had since 2013 and use almost daily), add the roasted sesame seeds, dates, and water.

Process

Cover the soy milk machine with lid and press “Select” button to select "Double Thick" or “Rice Paste” program. I have tested both, they are very similar, no difference. Then press “start” button. It takes about 25 minutes to finish the program.

Serve

When the program completed, you will hear the beeping sound. Now you can unplug the machine and open the lid. It's ready to serve now! Enjoy!
